I've had about a half-dozen Snark tuners, bought a few of the Reverb-branded equivalent
when they were blowing them out. I don't know what the deal is, they all just chew through
batteries like crazy. I keep CR2032s on hand -- seems like I put in a new battery, tune a couple
of times, and when I come back to the tuner a week or two later the screen is dim, hardly useable.
It's happened to pretty much every tuner of this type I've had. I have a hard time believing it's
just me -- would be interested to hear your experiences/recommendations.

Maybe shotty batteries. Lots of fake CR2032s out there especially if you bought them from that well known auction site. They'll work for a short time and then die.

I've had all types of batteries, shoddy and name brand.

It's not that the batteries are expensive or hard to come
by (multi-packs of all varieties on Amazon/etc for cheap),
it's just doesn't seem right that the battery in whatever
tuner I pick up always seems to be dead.

I'd be shocked if it was just me, but 1) I suppose stranger
things have happened and 2) there are many people with
real problems -- this is not a real problem.

I have had the same experience. The tuner I have its sort of hard to even tell when it's off or on. I probably leave it on sometimes. I bought two of these for $20 on a deal of the day sale a while back. I wont buy them again.

Mine are similar to this one.

I’ve been using Snark tuners for quite a while. My running theory is they last through one battery change. The first battery lasts quite a long time. Changing the battery once seems to work ok. After that, something breaks on the tuner or it never seems to work right or stay “lit” for long even after changing the battery. There is no evidence of this theory other than a pile of unused tuners at my house. They (Snark) are still better than the other ones I’ve tried. I even have pedal tuners I don’t use. I just buy a new one or two every couple of years when they go on sale.

Yes -- Exactly this. Glad I'm not the only one.

Collin P -- Ya. I was initially convinced that leaving them on was causing
them to die and so became kind of nuts about clicking them off as soon
    I'm done tuning.

Same here with multiple brands, including Snark. Use them at least once a day and always shut them off, but batts don't generally last more than 60 days or so. I expect at least a year

I have had the same snark for 6 years, it has lasted through 5 battery changes and a couple kids trying to eat it. I don't use it every day, but I use it most days. It is getting pretty beat up and I keep threatening to replace it, but it won't die.

Edit: it gets used at some point during every setup that I do, and goes with me to every jam I go to. It has been on close to a hundred different headstocks since it was born.

I have 2 Snarks. One that I got 6 months ago so I could free up space on my pedal board, and one I got 2 years ago for an acoustic. Both are still running on the original batteries. Granted I dont pull out my acoustic often, so the Snark for that one gets infrequent usage, but the Snark I use on my electric get daily usage, and after 6 months still seems strong.

I'm now curious to see what happens when I need to replace the batteries.

A: Buy Eveready 2032 batteries on ebay by the dozen, super cheap.
B: Buy a Monoprice rechargeable headstock tuner... comes with cord to recharge off your computer. Super Cheap.

This is absolutely what I would EXPECT, which is why I'm flummoxed.

Strange. I've used some cheap joyo tuners that I have eventually given away, and I have been using the snark Hz tuner for years. My original one recently took a crap, but I had it for 3-4 years. Never had a problem with batteries draining and i even used some cheap flea market batteries for a while. Hope you figure it out

Another reason not to use a Snark, or a snark.

I use TC Polyclip and the battery lasts for about a year. I’ve had it for about 4 years.

I have one of those clip-on tuners and I have the same experience with batteries.

I've owned Snarks for over a year now, and I haven't had to change a battery.

I've had a snark for about 2 years now; one battery replacement. I don't use it anymore because I have nitro finishes I want to keep in good shape, but I definitely never had battery issues.
