...who often rely on Mother's little helpers.
Mick is asking his doctor to start him up...............
Get Well Soon MJ.
Mick would be happy to know that fans round the world are singing his lyrics to the tune of his temporary demise!
WRT what the illness my be, it's possible they haven't figured it out yet but are pretty sure it's not terminal.
I hear you but it won't help those of us at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Seems improbable they could rebook for the following year.
Although, Steve Winwood got rained out one year, and came the next year on his own dime. A real stripped down presentation, small stage a just a few attendees - it was intimate and fantastic.
That’s no lie. I saw’em in 2015, and I was stunned by his energy. I’m 20 years younger, and was humbled. Total respect. Get well, man!
I saw them last summer at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry West Mids (UK) and before that at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield (UK) in 2006. They were both awesome shows, i really hope that the postponed shows are rescheduled soon so that those people with tickets don't miss out. I'd have been gutted if last summers show had been cancelled so i can definitely sympathise.
Let's all send Mick some positive energy so he's back on form very soon. I just can't imagine a world in which the Stone's aren't there.
I see what you're saying, but also believe that he does have a right to privacy. We don't know what it is and depending it might be something for him and his family to have time with first. A broken toe or spine the tour is cancelled either way. I just wish him a speedy recovery and all the best.
Darn. I had tickets for the Rose Bowl show in a few months.
Ever since the A Bigger Bang tour in 2005/2006, they have actually been REALLY FRIGGING great live. Had seen them several times before then, but nowhere near as good. Something happened with that album, and they really got it together. Among other things, Ron Wood is actually a joy to listen to now; he was alway horrible before. Among others, they are playing better set lists.
Come on Mick up and at em old son. The world really can't survive without the Stones, it would never the be the same again, we need you Mick.
I saw them live in Zurich in 2017 - it was really a fantastic gig. The one take-away however was just how energetic Mick was - it was not hugely 'normal' for someone in their 70's!
You could see Keith had slowed down from his peak, Ronnie was same as ever, but Mick was at 150% - this setback doesn't come as a huge shock.
Lets hope he's back in top form soon!
From their Facebook page...
Sadly, the Stones may now be at a point where they start dropping off, they cannot live forever....Keith especially....
I've been on a Stones kick lately, buying up their stuff on SACD, especially the ABKCO reissues. Even though I already own on vinyl and regular CD.
Absolutely. The greatest rock n' roll band in the World.
I saw them in London last May and they were fantastic. Loved every second of the show, and yes Mick moved better than most guys 40 years his junior. Sadly, it's inevitable that more and more, the guys will not be fit enough to go on tour. I noticed that Ronnie looked a bit short of breath last year too.
You would still correct had you said:
- “is” for “prolly”
- “vast majority” for “most”
- 1/4 for 1/2
It's not like they need the cash (like some of the other 70s classic rock acts touring recently). The Stones are touring purely for the love of live performance but health comes first. Get well soon Mick!
Right, about the money, but this announcement has more Legal weight than it has medical weight.
The way the Concert World works, Mick's got to establish a Medical reason why the tour needs to be postponed (etc.)because that's the way the contract is written. It may well be that there's 5 reasons it would be better to hold off on the show, but the Lawyer orders the Doctor and 'em to put together a case. Which could be just bone spurs, or could be serious. We won't know soon, maybe never know.
All I am saying is, that the Decision to postpone was probably made before the Doctor knew about it. Instead of "Mick, as your doctor I've got to ORDER you to put off this tour, no matter what you wish".
Get well soon, Sir Mick!
