I’m looking at a Michael Kelly 1953 online. Do these models have coil tapping controls?

The 1953 is a conventional single coil Telecaster with vintage pickups. No coil taps, they're not high output pickups. They have what they call "Quadmod" that sounds like a series/parallel switchable setting to me.

Per Michael Kelly Guitars:"With the power of the Quadmod, you are given the power of a 4th pickup setting which turns both your neck and bridge pickups on and makes your single-coil pickups sound almost identical to that of a humbucker. Due to the fact that your single-coil pickups are in two separate parts of the body, it gives you a very unique sound from that positioning.

If you mean the 53DB (Dual humBuckers), it has coil splits, not taps.

So it's a 4-way switch - adding both in series. I love marketing terms ;-)
