I'm digging this sound and looking for a MIAB pedal to get this through a clean amp, think DRRI before breakup. I think its a cranked JTM45 but I am not entirely certain. Would appreciate your suggestions on getting the sound in the opening riff.

Another affordable option is the Bluesbreaker side (Engine B) of the dual-overdrive King of Blues pedal. This is a clone of the Analogman King of Tone pedal. You can get this on Amazon.

Check it:

I’ll recommend the Friedman Smallbox as well.

However, I think a lot of dirt pedals would get you there. Nothing super unique about the sound in that example. Just kind of a generic mid-heavy dirty sound to my ears.

There is a very crisp edge to the distortion in that clip, which is what is appealing to me. Not necessarily a generic sound to me (i.e. it is not soft-clipped mids, but hard-clipped). I think some pedals will be softer than others in that regard.

Friedman Smallbox pedal will do that
I’ll recommend the Friedman Smallbox as well.

How does this compare to the Dirty Shirley Pedal. Love that sound, but it may be a "softer" version of the sound than I am looking for.

DS is darker, more lower mids, and way more gain. SB is more versatile IME.

Never owned the D.S.
There is a gain-select switch on the side of the pedal for “More”

There are a ton of MIAB options, but I still like my old Box of Rock for that kind of thing and I used it primarily with my Twin Reverb which is nothing but clean. The BoR has an independent switchable boost after the drive circuit which I really like as it adds a ton of versatility to the pedal.

Friedman is probably a good choice for that crispy high end. But yeah most good miab with some amp eq will get you there.
I miss that show. So much great music.

We are watching it for the first time.....I wish I had spent time with it sooner...so much talent on that show. My wife couldn't believe the actors were also the performers on the songs.

And then there's this:

Available only on the used market, and people aren't giving them away. I have one and it is a forever-pedal.
