My dad was the best, and my two sons are totally awesome
May as well post some obligatory pics right now of guys without shirts on...just to get THAT out of the way.
If you do that, you've gotta go over to the other thread and post some cheesecake pics
(exceptions: My dad, Fred Rogers, Paul Newman, Leo Fender, Thomas Merton, maybe another half dozen or so)
"Men are great!"
No, we are not great.
We sure do a bunch of bad, mean, weird stuff, don’t we?
That said, my Dad, and his dad were cool.
I face palmed when I saw that..........
Speak for yourself
I'm sorry to hear though that you are not great. That must suck.
I remember seeing Pablo Cruise back in the day... and being embarassed for them. Satin, cuffed bellbottoms, platform shoes, flowered shirts open to the navel... ick. They were just smarmy. The 70's at their worst.
I wrote this song about being a man.
Guitar and singing-guilty as charged
My boys are young men and they're great. I wasn't a total loser but I was not achieving and making all the good decisions they are making at that age.
Both of us need to give the moms some credit as far as the gene pool influencing our sons. In my case I have to give my wife (and their grandmothers) a lot of credit for the rest. The big part of parenting that's sort of all you can do is try to do a good job on the steering wheel.
I'm also not saying it's all the mom. I was an abused kid and after I got over being afraid to repeat that I really tried to not repeat what my dad did. In their earliest years I was the one who got them dressed and watched them in work from home or got them to day care. I try to be consistent and fair.
My sons turned out awesome in spite of their alcoholic insane failure-as-a-human being mother
We are resilient and that's great. I didn't intend for this or my women post to be too one sided. I also experience some agism and stereotypes against me in my new work scenario but also try to be a just deal with it sort of person. Smartest thing my mother said when my dad died took a while to sink in and get action. She said put on a smile and get to work because in days or weeks no one will care and the world will move on. I'm not the optimist it might seem or that some think I am. I just try to bury stuff that can't do any good.
Boy you said a mouthful there, as far as what is applicable to my current situation.
And, yeah, I'm trying
That was great!
Not trying to find fault, but shouldn't this thread be titled "Man are great!" ?
I won't lower myself.
But- the other thread should've been entitled "Chicks are great!"
