    Pre-war blues,jugband style,which included shades of country,vaudville,etc.
" On The Road Again " is a classic. A precursor for gangsta rap.

    Anybody else?

Huge jug band fan here. Before a flood destroyed all my stuff I had a nearly canonical collection of pre-WW2 jug band recordings.

I even played in a jug band for a while.

Memphis Jug Band are one of my favorite groups of musicians ever to record. Love Cannon's Jug Stompers as well.

Jack Kelly's South Memphis Jug Band is also excellent.

Oh, and Whistler and his Jug Band.

So many great ones from that era.

As good as music ever got, IMO.

Gus Cannon, Will Shade (Son Brimmer), Jack Kelly etc. All of them were legends. I grew up on jug band music because of my dad. I learned 'Whitewash Station' by the time I was five and it's still a song I play at gigs.

    Long live the jug band.
