Big_Bend beat me to it. When you insist that someone makes “enough to support a family” salary at what used to be called a “starter job”, the robots are right around the corner.

To answer the poster who asked “what’s next, do they expect us to prepare the food?”

Nope, but that job will be automated shortly. It’s simple economics.

I can just see me pushing that touchscreen with my elbows.

Is it too much to ask to get robots to make our hamburgers? Because I like that idea.

Then there’s the matter of the meat itself. When it’s ok to basically bleach it to make it “safe” for human consumption?

At least it’s probably no worse than the lettuce.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

The burgers are pretty bad there, but I was speaking in general. I've been known to get a McMuffin, coffee, and hash browns.

Didn’t mean to imply that Mc Ds bleaches their meat. I do know it is legal to sell meat processed that way. I’m assuming some fast food chains probably use the stuff, but I have no such inside knowledge. Was a poor attempt at humour.

I probably eat a McDs burger about once every couple years and every time I vow never again.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Jeez, McDs food is the best road food and FF breakfast around.

Easy to eat while driving, as nothing usually spills out.

    Decent coffee and breakfast.

    Calories listed.

Most places ... even in other countries ... taste the same.

    It is useful.

Has the food been tested for fecal matter?

    I think it's BS, but I don't eat at McD's anymore.

"can" is not "should". Just because something is possible, doesn't mean we should gladly go for it, or we are stubborn old farts who refuse to keep up with things.

Most technological things being pushed onto us are not "progress".

Mankind does not walk in a straight line. The future is not always better.

McPoop can do whatever it wants to, I'm not going there anyway. I prefer to at least eat the fecal matter of people I know.

Not happened here yet, we’ll, I don’t think they have. Doesn’t sound as if we’ve missed much.

I generally despise the level of service at your average fast food joint... Burger King seems to be the worst right now, Chick Fil A generally the best... with McD's somewhere in the middle. So one day with a long line, I gave the kiosk a try... not only was it comically confusing to use, but my order never got placed. I ended up standing in line to order again.

Robots and computers in fast food: garbage in, garbage out. Literally.

I'm happy with A&W, but I only go there only a few times a year. Heathen Canadians that we are, there are no Chik-Fil-As here.

I use their mobile app, and do some customizations like adding lettuce, tomato, and mayo to their cheap cheeseburger. Tasty little snack for not too much money.

And I don't have to talk to people.

I worked for a company that made some things for MacDonald's, and we were always amazed at the smugness, hubris, and general arrogance of MacDonald's corporate officers.

You really shouldn't eat there. The food is unhealthy, unethical, and overpriced... By design.

I was never a tree hugger can't eat this or that type, but working with MacDonald's made me that way.

Seriously, if you have a choice, take it.

    Yup.

Robots were supposed to free human beings from tedious labor and give us all lives of luxury.

Instead they are turning us into Soylent Green.

If you mean the touch-screen boards then yes, I use them and like them. Pump in your order, pay by cc, take a number and sit down and be waited upon,
    best thing ever.

Not in my opinion. I won't use one either for at least somewhat the same reason I don't typically do self-checkout in a market that offers it.

I don't expect to get my shoes polished and brass belt buckle shined but I do expect at least a modicum of personal service for the money I'm spending.

With Mickey D's the purpose is obvious. Minimum wage is increasing rapidly so if they can decrease personnel they remain more profitable. But despite kiosks they're raising price significantly anyway.

It must depend on location and who the manager and/or franchisee is. I seldom eat in a McDonalds and when I have so far I've been given the option of ordering from a human. If a certain location forced me to use their kiosk I would politely refuse, thank them, and leave.
