Just wait 'til July 11...
I have fresh limes for my VE Day margaritas. I say that’s a thing.
now I want a slurpee.
You haven't 7-11ed until you've 7-11ed in Japan. Next level.
My experience in Japan was seeing Lawson convenience stores everywhere and lots of Winchell's donut shops, which had full-restaurant menus.
My first Slurpee came from the 7-Eleven up at the top of Yucaipa Boulevard while we were visiting my cousins.
Slurpees and cigarettes are the only things I think I've ever bought from 7-Elevens, but they sold me a lot of both!
Dinosaurs roamed the Earth when I was in High School, and NOTHING was open after 9PM at night, except 7-11's. We had one on our city's westside that was even open 24 hours. That's where we'd all gather after we threw our early morning paper routes. In fact, the ONLY people out on the streets at that time of day were cops and paperboys. One of the 7-11 employees (who didn't last long) used to carry a long butcher knife in his belt, like a pirate's cutlass, cause he was so paranoid of being robbed. In college, I worked part-time at Mr M's, which was a 7-11 clone started by Metzger's Milk Co. We kept the 7 AM to 11PM hours.
oh man. When we lived in Capitola for a year (waiting for a house to get finished) there was a 7-11 on soquel ave (still there) and one all the way at the edge of town going to Davenport, that my daughter and I would stop at and get HOT DOGS and slurpees... and they were good! If I did that today, I'm sure CPS would be called and my children would be lost to me.
