    I use both a 1997 Chieftain 210 and a 2009 SC30.

Once you go Matchless, nothing else compares!

So...how's it sound? I've ALWAYS wanted a DC30. It's just more volume than I need at this point though. Small club volumes are ridiculously low these days.

It's pretty incredible. I thought the 12AX7 channel was the clearest thing I'd ever heard, but when I switched to the EF86 it was like I'd just taken off a pair of ear muffs.

I really like my Nighthawk. Also dug the EF-86 channel on my 65 Amps London.

Here's my 1998 Lightning 210 - amazing amps chiming cleans (a la Vox), easily driven by my #1 Tele - both love the Zendrive when I want a little creamy boost. (btw, anyone have a spare Matchless Chicken head knob?)

    Lovin' the Matchless

I am the proud owner of two Matchless amps. I have a 2010 C-30 Reverb Head (named "Scarlett") with matching 2x12 cabinet and a two tone orange Lightning combo (named "The Orange Dream Machine") sporting 2x12 as well (no pictures yet...but shown on the Matchless web site). The C-30 is my #1, but the Lightning is awesome for church (where the volume needs to be a bit lower). I know the C-30 has a half power switch, but dang, that bugger is still LOUD! I love both of these amps! Run in stereo with my 5E5A or 5E8A tweed amps...ohhhhh SO good! ;)

I just picked up a Spitfire head and matching 1/12 cab in a swap. Absolutely love it so far, particularly with a tele.

    Sorry for tardy reply

    Update:
I sold the older (1994) Lightning and it belonged to the small
shower curtain cab. So that's gone.

The Spitfire chassis went into the head cab. So I got a small green tolex/oxblood cloth cab. sittin empty...but I don't want to sell it.

The Spitfire chassis got an added LIGHT KIT to light up the head cab logo

    THESE AMPS LOVE 12AY7 TUBES!!!!!!!

So guys, start experimenting with 5751s and 12AY7s in your V1 or V!&V2 spots.

For V1 and V2 in the Lightning I tried:
    12AY7 > 12AX7
    12AX7 > 12AY7
    5751 > 12AX7
    5751 > 12AY7
    12AY7 > 5751
    12AX7 > 5751
    12AY7 > 12AY7

with the last being my fave. Even tried low gain 12AU7s in the mix

The Spitfire is using a 12AY7 in V1

    I've got 2 1961 Tung-Sol JAN 12AY7s
    and
    1 60s Raytheon 12AY7

The Raytheon rules but the TS's are good

New production GT 12AY7s are harsh

    Dreamin' of new speakers now

ASW Elegante 16 Ohm + ASW Bludo 16 Ohm
    for a 2x12 8 Ohm cab

Not a real thing, but this Spitfire clone that I have build is one of the best sounding amps that I have build... or played! Mark Sampson really knew what he was doing! Speaker is Celestion G12H30. It's currently a direct copy of the real thing, but I'm thinking of putting 6v6 powertubes in it... more headroom and a bit more "softer" tone.

So now there are cool rigs all over Europe ;)
Does the Zen work well with the Lightning ? I had a Zendrive a couple of years ago but I didn't like the sound with my 6L6-amps too much.

Its sweet with the Lightning / Tele combination, I use it mainly as a lead boost, particularly creamy as a neck pup boost - for me it has rhythm uses at lower gain settings.

I've never used it with a 6v6 - all my amps are 84's and love it - also I've noticed the ZD likes Teles more than Strats - I'd definitely give it another chance (if you can borrow one).
