In another thread @burtf51 posted a video of Mary playing 'How High The Moon' Off to Youtube to discover more. That led to :-

Which led to a purchase of the album after four tracks. Dang, this Internet can get costly sometimes. The album is just lovely to listen to.

    Enjoy.

MO was a great musician who was a contemporary of the best players of her day. I think her gender held her back in many ways during her tenure. But, all you have to do is listen & admire her musicianship.

I've known about her for a while.

I was listening to a record called "Cocktail Swing" by drummer Jack Sterling. The guitarist on the LP was great, so I looked at the liner notes. No mention of "sidemen", only details about Jack's wife and kids.

Turns out the guitarist was Mary Osbourne.

Mary was so great! I was lucky enough to meet her a couple of times in her later years, through a friend who was her student when she'd retired to Bakersfield. Just an incredible classic jazz player.

That's interesting, how old were you at the time you met her and were you a musician at that time?

I ran across a guy somewhere on the net that had posted a lot of audio files he had recorded when he was taking lessons from Emily Remler and now I can't find where they were posted and I'd really like to find them again...

Just in case you can put your hand to the issues, there were pieces on Mary Osborne in Guitar Player for February 1974 and Just Jazz Guitar May 2002.
The former is brief bio and covers her life to about the move to Bakersfield and the other, amongst other things, provides the link to Marian McPartland.
    Interesting reading.

I guess this was mid-1970's? I was in my early 20's and a mandolin player / Bluegrass freak who had just started delving into guitar. I wish the timing had been different and I could have studied with her, but I was years away from being enough of a guitarist to have gotten much out of it. The main thing I remember is that she was just a super warm and down to earth person.
