Thanks for that. Yeah, he's looking at a brand new one but can't find a store that will let him crank it up a bit. I have a 40C and did a c19 clip on it. Made it better for sure. Now to find the right speaker match. Always tinkering aren't we? LOL

cool, newest ones are good to go. My cab is deep clear and well balanced. jcm800 era celestion gt75 & Vintage in X pattern, The 75's from that era are more like 65's and the 75's arnt harsh..it is well balanced and not a laser beamer like newer versions.balanced x pattern.jpg .

GT75 from a Marshall cab is what I have in my 40C now. I tried a 75 Creamback...didn't like it. I tried a Celestion Black Shadow C90 from a Mesa Boogie..it was better but.... Thinking about a Creamback 65. I hear good things about them.

this is my 93 jcm900. its the one i used back in the 90s in atlanta. just got it back last year...its been sitting in an air conditioned environment at my old singers place untouched since 1999. lots of people talk bad about these but this thing is a beast and i love it.
i put up an old vid of it....

I love the 4 input plexis... I’ve gotten used to bridging the high/low inputs and dialing in just the right balance of growl and snarl with the two volumes.

My only thinking is I like the idea of having a master volume...

On the other hand I think the plexi is more versatile, as they are the exact same amp except the 800 has 1 more gain stage and 1 less channel.

So if I smack the plexi with a boost it should get me that 800 thing or close to it...

    Maybe my logic is flawed?

Mine may not be an "Official Marshall," but it is based off of a Marshall circuit. The JCM800 preamp, but a single ended 6V6 output. The board is the GuitarAmplifierspcbs.com, wired for the cascaded preamps (ala JCM800). The cab is a homemade 1X10 with a Weber Ceramic 10V (Vintage 30 copy in 10"). It's a straight up rockin' beast!

I over-built it with the intention of running it with an EL34, but the 6V6 is plenty loud. I never got around to installing the EL34 and biasing for it.

I actually just got done rockin' it with my Squier Bullet Mustang. I'd love to do a side by side with the new 20 Watt Studio Classic JCM800.

That Les Paul in the center is one of the most beautiful I've seen in a long while. I love how orange it looks, without it looking like a bright clown burst. Of course nothing wrong with the other two either!

I am so happy with my Katana 50, a wonderful swiss army knife of an amp. My G&L ASAT Special is my first grab guitar.

For effects I have an original Hermida Zendrive2, a Red Witch Pentavocal tremolo, a flashback delay, the very nice BBC wah, and an Ernie Ball MVP volume pedal (no tone suck).

For jazz and blues in a normal pub, it's all I need. I have played some pretty abnormal pubs as well.

You guys have 4-12 cabs in your houses? I can't even imagine. How far away are your neighbors?
