My ‘79 JMP Master Lead 2 50w going to be pretty much cranked to the max tomorrow night.

    Nice big venue.

    Is there a better amp?

It doesn't look like one, but this SOUNDS like a Marshall. My DIY 18 Watter clone.

I take exception to the OP's assertion that you need an SG or LP to do it right. My "normal" single-coil Tele kicks major booty through this thing, too.

So since it's not too late too change my mind

    Should I take a 800 or a plexi?

How does the DSL 100H compare to the old DSL 100? A buddy of mine is looking at them. He had a DSL 100 10 years ago but had to sell. Now looking at the 100h.

That is a tough call. I have a few with 800 type gain and a jmp50. The deciding factor would be how you like to play. Both can be boosted. Think of the amps and the time in rock history what they were used for? Do you play or identify with a sound from 1 more than the other. The plexi is more appealing to me at the moment, only because i have quite a bit of the 800 in dif flavors and i can sorta get worn down on that after awhile but always have to have it. the plexi probably for more variety..i kept a strat just because of the plexi..it jangles and quacks like mad. tough call,

mine has the plexi mod and sozo caps and a choke, its so usable, think plexi on classic chan and then 800 ish on Ultra, had some gain reduction but more usable gain. This is my gig amp for sure. My amp builder/tech copied a blueprint for me. This version i believe is less harsh and the channels a balanced. nice. But it had to have some mods. now the new version last year is very good right from the door, my 40cr i made into a head is fantastic, did 7 songs on last cd with it
