Hey guys (and gals)

I've been looking at getting Marshall to match with My 82 Les Paul Standard. I have seen the 6100 LM and was wondering what are the pros and cons. The one I am looking at getting has the 6L6 in them

Any thoughts?

I've never played one myself.

I generally dislike most of the post-80s MArshalls with a ton of bells and whistles, they usually sound pretty bad - still, I don't believe the 30th has any clipping diodes in the preamp, so you should be able to get some decent sounds out of it.

A shortage of EL34's makes for a strange 6L6/5881 Marshall...

I'd definitely try out the amp FIRST.

From what I read Johnny all I know is that it's 3 channels.

The clean channel is pretty good, and the hi-gain channel is pretty good. The crunch channel is flippin' great! The "LM" is a circuit revision made in '93 to the lead channel: "Lead Modified." They're different than the original 1992 6100s in that they run 5881s instead of EL-34s, and there's that circuit revision. With a Les Paul, I could live on the LM's crunch channel and get everything I want from the guitar's volume controls. I've never plugged into a non-LM 6100, unfortunately.

Johnny A uses the original models on stage and in the studio (direct!), Joe Satriani used one, and I think that's the version Rivers Cuomo of Weezer used for awhile.

Yeah I know Snatch used one before he switch to Peavey. I also know that you can switch the power section from 100 watt to 50 watts and 25 watts.
