He's an amazing player no doubt. I just can't really seem to connect with his music though. It just feels... IDK, stale and derivative (and yes I understand all guitarist are derivative to one extent or another). Like I've already heard it 1,000 times even though it might be my first time hearing a particular song. I feel the same way about Derek Trucks. Utmost respect for his ability but the music itself just does't do it for me. Even though on paper it definitely should.

Anything R&B is worn to a nub by now. But then, so are many other things, like the story lines of most action films. But I'm still an action film addict.

Yeah man. I dig him. He swims in deep waters. Here is one of my favorites he did for Mule during Christmas a couple years ago. He just had gotten his Mulecaster. Good stuff.

Needs more surprise to be interesting. His tone and style is impeccable, but he’s not taking any chances with licks or with his songwriting. It’s all very safe and on the nose.

I haven't heard a full album yet, but every time I check him out he's playing what I consider real roots music. I think he's going a lot deeper than rock.
