Has anyone heard of Mark Rutters? I‘ve shot him a mail a week ago asking for my order and no answer so far...

Yes I've heard of Marc Rutters! I bought stuff from him several years ago. It took a while to get it, but it was great hardware and a pine body that turned into this:

IIRC he’s famous for pickups, hardware, not getting back to people .

    Probably not in that order...

I hunted him down after two or three months waiting for my custom ferrules. They were a unique diameter, so he had to lathe a set as a one-off. Surprised he didn’t lose them with the plating guy.

Not surprised you're waiting and haven’t heard back yet.

I've ordered a number of control plates from him... not uncommon for the communication to be very slow to respond. Sometimes you have to attempt contact more than once.

Why is the CS with so many of these guy so bad? You want to support small companies making great products and they can't be bothered to communicate with the people sending them money. We see posts like this all the time about a variety of builders/makers. Being a "one man show" isn't an excuse, you need to budget in time every day for answering emails or calls.

I too, had concerns about communication after reading some of the comments here, but really thought his bridge was the one I wanted to use for my build. Sent him an email one morning about 3 weeks ago, telling him what I wanted, and asking for the lead time. Marc responded later the same day, told me that he had the bridge available, I did the PayPal transaction the next morning, and two days later, the bridge was delivered. Phenomenal quality and workmanship, really.
I'd suggest contact prior to purchase to find how soon the parts will be available. You will NOT be disappointed with the quality of the parts.

I wonder also. The contact was fast before I've placed my order...Dunno why, but it's a PITA since I can't go on with my current project.

Keep trying, or call him. He is tough to nail down, but he's a good guy to work with IME.

I fail to see how you can be a "great guy to work with" and nearly impossible to get a hold of.

I have purchased two Burrito bridges from him; both times he responded immediately, and I got the bridges in a couple of days.

    Just my $.02 here ...

It's this way with nearly every one man business, not just the guitar ones. And many larger busineses. I estimate that 90% of my attempts to contact businesses fail. So they don't get my money.

Part of it is that many people go into business to do what they like, not to run a business.

I have always had good service from Marc. I have purchased a Burrito bridge and a few saddle sets. The most recent was a couple months ago. His work is top notch.

I read these threads and it seems random people fall victim to "poor communications/poor customer service" episodes.
I've bought from Marc three times and always got quick responses and deliveries. However, there are enough of these threads to show there are definitely people having these issues.

    It strange:confused:

    Luck of the draw maybe?

I do web design work, and I run into clients that really want nothing to with communicating with their customers through any electronic means. I try to explain to them that having a site while not being ready to communicate with your customers will probably do you as much harm as just not having a site.

    I’ve run a one-man tile/stone installation biz for 20+ years.

I respond within the hour - at the outside. Usually within minutes.

My favorite part of my job ?

    Getting paid.

To get to that point as quickly as possible in this age of instant communication ?

    Communicate instantly.
