I see the Vox AC15C1 has gone up to $899 new. The C2 (2x12 combo) is $1199 new. This is getting crazy. I just switched from modeling back to tube amps with a load in my home studio. I may switch back.

Ya, and prices of used amps are crazy high too! Lucky for me, I already have exactly what I want and need for any gig or situation, with spare tubes and parts to last.

300 dollars or a little more for a used combo Blackstar. Around 500 dollars new.

I’ve been eyeing compact class-D bass heads in the 500-800 watt range. Prices have climbed quite a bit on many of them since, say, February of 2020. As a currently (temporarily?) non-gigging bass player, are my current old-school rackmount power amps really that heavy?

I just picked up a Fender HRD Tweed IV from GC - List price $999.

It was marked as used... $599. Hard to say no at 40% below list. the pedal waa still in its shrink wrap.

Musicians Friend has a bunch of IVs at the same price, including a neat used brown/brown limited color HRD IV, again, for the same $599. (also red, and two-tone, and...)

I think used market is the way to go on tube amps. Tubes are relatively inexpensive, and they only come with 90 day warranty on the tubes anyway.

I just bought all new Mullard tubes for my 65 Vox Cambridge and there was hardly any bleeding from my wallet.

The last time I gave my opinion on how amp prices had escalated, a couple comments mocked and ridiculed me for wishing prices stayed fairly stable......so I'll stay out of this. :(

I might have been one of them, but they were usually going up $50 here or there. But, lately it’s been $200-300 here or there.

My 60s tube Vox Cambridge is getting crazy money. I REALLY love the amp, but I could get a LOT of money for it...

My only SS amp is an '89 Marshall MOSFET Twin 100... Considered one of the best SS amps ever. It's got two of the Marshall Vintage 12" in it made by Celestion. The speakers are getting $125 each. Or I could sell the whole amp for about $200 Lol!

You don't know how good you have it. In 1965 a Princeton Reverb would have set you back the equivalent of $1465 2021 dollars. A Deluxe Reverb was over $2000, a Bandmaster $3400. You're in the golden age of cheap these days. Things cost what they cost, if you can't or won't pay, well, that's on you.

Looks like over here I can still get an AC15C1 new for what I paid for mine 4 years ago... £550-ish (including tax).
However you can expect prices of everything containing electronics to go up and keep going up for the next couple of years -- the worldwide shortage of silicon is real and it's hitting a lot of products. Suppliers have gone from quoting 32 week leadtimes to 44 then 52 and now 99 weeks... Even the AC15, which is a mostly-valve amp, has ICs which may be affected.

    that's funny!
prices on everything is going up. i paid $4.20 gal. for gas. food is going up. businesses are restocking and having to pay more so they are passing it on. not much we can do about it other than to complain, buy anyway or, sit back and see if prices come down. don't count on it!

    play music!

I’ve been offloading equipment recently. It is very much a sellers market in Canada.
