If Bruce finds out you said those things about his guitars, he will send guys to your house to relic all you guitars. I don't understand the relic thing either, but whatever Bruce wants, Bruce gets. Stu

Love the thread! What a great chance to see a relic job when it's for one of the true ambassadors of the telecaster.

And I agree about people bashing a relic. At the end of the day it's really just another "finish" option. Personally I love 'em. And apparently so does Springsteen...and his opinion carries a bit of weight.

So much animosity over something as trivial as a finish.

More "fake" is the non-Fender tele copies...and yet, I love those too. And don't begrudge anyone else who likes em.

If a player likes relic guitars, I have no problem with it, and it certainly doesn't ruin my day as it does some out there. This is a cool thread about a great luthier building a guitar for a guy that I credit as one of the reasons I play guitar and write music.

I have never been a fan of the relic finish but I can understand where Bruce is coming from. What a lot of guys do not realize is that more players then one would realize prefer a modern day CS build over a vintage guitar. I can remember being 14 the first time I saw Springsteen (before he hit it big) in the mid 70's at the Palladium in NY with my older brother who is as big a fan as they come. It still standsout in my mind as one of the greatest performances I have ever seen! The guy played for over 4 hours and literally had to be dragged off the stage. To be honest he could relic a new guitar to look vintage back then in a year lol.

What makes a great guitarist? I think someone who came up with all the signature riffs in his songs and plays them himself night after night meets the criteria.

actually the relicd guitar he used or is currently using doesn't have the Esquire decal, I don't reckon he's started using it yet.

If anyone is entitled to have their guitars reliced it's old rock stars for sure.
