after brushing and block sanding a few coats of sanding sealer i sprayed a thin coat of tranparent white and then a couple coats of lemon yellow stained clear, then a couple coats of clear. I'll give a few days drying time and decide if it will get a burst or not

I am going to be doing a burst soon, and was wondering what tints and how you applied it.

    It looks great!

here's everything I used, stuff I had around, the spray cans sucked for spraying so i poked holes in them and drain them into jars

after painting a light coat of transparent white on the Mahogany, light enough not to get into the pores, let it dry and grain filled with clear lawrence mcfadden filler,

then mixed a few drops of lemon yellow and a drop of cherry red into some clear lacquer gave the body a coat,

added more clear to what was left and a drop or two more of red and sprayed around the edge,

poked a hole into a spray can of stu mac red mahogany and poured it into my spray gun cup and sprayed the edge again,

poked a hole into a spray can of tobacco brown, poured into cup and sprayed the edges again,

then sprayed the whole body with a few coats of straight clear

air was about 40 lbs at the compressor, air temp in the shop was about 95 degrees, paint dried in minutes, I was soaking wet praying I would not drip drops of sweat on the paint job

came out nice, no blushing at all

yes, I used some clear filler after I shot on some thin trans white to lighten up the mahogany so the yellow/amber would show up nice, the mahogany gets pretty dark when cleared

another fine lookin geetar scatterlee. I have always enjoyed mahogany esquires and teles. They are like LesPaul Juniors for for Fenderheads. Simplicity and a nice change from ash and alder tonewise. I hear ya soaking wet and praying- it's been that way around here for weeks!

Yes--a Destroyer; I realized my mistake after I posted. Can't wait to see that thread, sir.

So, uh, how do you poke holes in the cans without paint spraying everywhere? Do you turn them upside-down and spray out the gas first?

yes, upside down in a clamp or if to much paint is still coming out I just spray it straight into a jar
