Hello amp gurus out there, I have a lovely Magnatone Melodier Advanced model 110 with a problem.
It sounds amazing till it warms up and then goes silent. Can anyone diagnose the symptoms and tell me how to get it working again? 20161030_191822.jpg

Sounds like a heat related problem, maybe a cold solder joint.

Tough to find as they can look perfectly, and once you look for the fault with open chassis, the part in question never gets hot enough to duplicate the problem.

    Chop stick time!

I'm guessing it's from the 1950s? If so all capacitors are suspect not just the electrolytics. Which if original I would change right away. Probably a cap can? Maybe with all four inside?

Maybe a leaky blocking cap causing the bias of a tube to drift? A set of voltage readings when it's just warmed up, and another set when it quits working would shed some light.

I'd take dkevin up on his offer.

Thank you for the replies! For some reason, I didn't get notifications on your responses, and thought the thread had died a sad, lonely death, lol.
