    Read about it here.

I'm not a huge fan. IMHO, her music is way overrated, as is her talent (as one cartoonist put it years ago, she's taken a Chiclet and stretched it to the moon). But I think she's a great choice for the show -- a mega-platinum artist with a highly-theatrical stage show. And she's from Michigan, to boot.

    Meh...

They should just go to each hosting town every year and hire the best bar band around. Have that band cover play their best set list and the NFL pays the licensing/royalties for the songs.

... and it all has to be live.

I think they should get "Iron Maiden".

but, if they did, the venue wouldn't be big enough.:p

I can't wait for the posts where TDPRI'ers haughtily insist it should be a semi-obscure picker in the tradition of Roy Buchanan or some club-level jam band in farted-up denim and flannel.

For the entertainment value it is an excellent choice. Everyone will want to see how she looks and dances at her age. She also has enough hit songs that she will have thousands of fans singing along with her. You don't have to like her but that is the time when you get up and get another plate of BBQ and a beverage.

I bet she puts on a great show. Although I would dig Iron Maiden for 16 minutes. AC/DC would be a great choice since every stadium plays their music during games, Metallica or even bring back the Go Go's and Bangles tour. heh heh

I haven't watched a half time show in years. Do they purposely hire the flash & glitter or can they not find a decent act willing to perform? Give me Merle or the like then I will gladly pay attention.

I guess it's OK if you have to settle for somebody whose best days were a long time ago. Maybe she will do something crazy. Won't be many players on the field who were alive when she made her best stuff.

Oh, I'm not part of that group. I'm just saying that my suggestion would be just as valid to me as most of the recent half time shows. I just get tired of all the lip-syncing. But that's what the masses want, I guess.

Is this in addition to Nickelback, or instead of them?

They should get Guns N Roses,or, I mean, the Axl Rose Experience, so Axl could refuse to go on until 3 hours after scheduled. that'd be a hoot.

She looks like an overcooked, grisley chicken leg.

Boooorrrrrinnggg. Hasn't she retired or moved on to the Vegas/ casino circuit by now? They pull in acts like this to attract female viewers (and to tolerate their husbands and boyfriends watching the game)...or to revive a sagging career (no pun intended). The programming heads are probably women too, as are many execs in the media. Woulda thought football would be one of the last male bastions...but no way Jose'. Englebert Humperdink, or Wayne Newton would have been a better choice.
    Swang on,

Funny.....you didn't hear a peep out of her until Lady Ga Ga appeared . She's made many comments as to her being a watered down version of her.
Getting older is one thing. It happens. Do it gracefully though. I'll refrain any more comments to I see what she does.

I dont care much for her music, as it seems to be pretty much disco-dance stuff, but, I watched a TV special "Madonna from Australia", and she really knows how to put on a show. I'd expect a rather grand spectacle from her at half-time.
