    What is the difference in a "Made in Japan" and a "crafted in Japan". Is one better than the other? Just curious on this one.

    Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is;

    MIJ = 1982 - 1997

    CIJ = 1997 - present

    Here is a site with serial number information

    Serial/Dates of Manufacture

    Manufacturing facilities may have changed over the years, but one is not better than the other.
