Oh, man! I could spend hours on this. Here are a few that I love. Thanks for this question.

Virtue never tested is no virtue at all.

---"Must I Paint You a Picture" by Billy Bragg

    When there's trouble, I don't like runnin',
But I'm afraid I've got more in common
With who I was than who I am becomin'.

---"Black and Brown Blues" by David Berman (Silver Jews)

Repair is the dream of a broken thing.
Like a message broadcast on an overpass:
All my favorite singers couldn't sing.
All my favorite singers couldn't sing.

---"We Are Real" by David Berman (Silver Jews)

Momma, here comes midnight with the dead moon in her jaws.
Must be the big star about to fall.

---"Farewell Transmission" by Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia)

Look down the long road, see who's that crying.
Tell them that every day I lived, I was trying
    To sing the blues
    The way I find 'em.

---"Old Black Hen" by Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia)

I want to feel my heart break--if it must break--
    In your jaws.
I want you to lick my blood off your paws.

--"The Lioness" by Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia)

I've got more Steely Dan lines stuck in my brain than can be mentioned here :D A few of them below. I guess part of what makes them stand out and stick is Donald Fagen's vocal delivery.

Smoky Sunday, he's been mobilized since dawn
Now he's crouching on the lawn
    He's a third world man

    ("Third World Man")

Chinese music always sets me free
Angular banjoes sound good to me

    ("AJA")

Meet me at midnight at Mr. Chow's
    Szechuan dumplings
Now that the deal has been done, I'm the one

    ("Glamour Profession")

Why is he standing in your spangled leather poncho
    And your elevator shoes?

    ("Gaucho")

Daddy can't get no fine cigar
But we know you're smoking wherever you are

("Daddy Don't Live In That New York City No More")

Is there gas in the car?
Yes there's gas in the car

    ("Kid Charlemagne")

This part for the clarity of it:
"One day you`re going to have to face
    A deep dark truthful mirror
And it`s going to tell you things that I still love you too much to say"

    Next lines for the image:
"The sky was just a purple bruise, the ground was iron
And you fell all around the town until you looked the same"

Deep Dark Truthful Mirror. Elvis Costello

So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who’s feeling down
But he knows where she’s going as she’s leaving
She’s headed for the cheating side of town

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
    I have become comfortably numb.

Citing artistic differences the band broke up in May
And in June re-formed without me and they got a different name.

One that often pops up in my brain without warning is from "The Million Dollar Bash" from The Basement Tapes. The way Dylan sings it makes it even more hilarious than it reads so I guess it has to be heard:

"Well, I looked at my watch
    I looked at my wrist
Punched myself in the face with my fist"

“If you just act like you what you’re doing everybody thinks you do”
    Joe Walsh.
“Lucky That Way” is one of his best, an older wiser Midnight Man speaks. The song is filled with great quotes but I wish he’d sung this when I was beginning my career not ending it.
Actually (IMHO) the entire album is excellent

Now everybody's got advice they just keep on givin'
Doesn't mean too much to me
Lots of people out to make-believe they're living'
Can't decide who they should be...

I understand about indecision, But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition, All I want is to have my peace of mind

    ~

'Now she's stupid in the streets and she can't socialize
Well, I love that little girl and I'll love her till the day she dies.'

David Bowie, Scary Monsters & Super Creeps

(a lyric so cold-blooded, it slips right past most listeners)

After a while, you can work on points for style, like a club tie and a firm handshake, a sudden look in the eye, an easy smile. You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to, so that when they turn their back on you, you’ll get the chance to put the knife in! (Que awesome guitar solo)
    Pink Floyd - Dogs
That entire Animals album is sooo freakin good!

Love it - I could post multiple examples from the Dead / Robert Hunter. This one's always been a favorite of mine:

    "Goodbye Mama and Papa
    Goodbye Jack and Jill
The grass ain't greener, the wine ain't sweeter
    Either side of the hill"

Ramble on Rose, the Grateful Dead
