I'm thinking of those few lines of a song that you've always thought were clever, even if it's not your favourite song.

My quick three examples would be

Simon and Garfunkel, A Dangling Conversation
"And we note our place with book markers, that measure what we've lost"

    Bruce Springsteen, Tunnel of Love
"Then the lights go out and it's just the three of us, you me and all that stuff we're so scared of"

    Anastacia, Sick and Tired
"I'm sick and tired of always being sick and tired"

That last one has stayed with me since I was 13. I didn't like the song but I loved that line. Now I've just found out in googling what the song was actually called that it's from a civil rights speech.

Not that they're clever, but I like something about the phrasing.

My best old ex friend Ray.

Maybe down in Mexico or a picture upon somebody's shelf.

And I like the songs. So I'm screwing this all up.

I like two out of three of mine, the rules are fast and lose, I just wanted to hear everyones favourite lyric I guess.

I love the "my best old ex friend ray" giving that a listen now.

    And in the end
    The love you take
Is equal to the love you make

    Song lyrics can hook you.
Sometimes it's in the set up, the pitch, and the swing.
And other times it's the crack of the bat as the ball sails over the green wall.

    Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald

So many promises never should be spoken
Now I know what loving you cost
Now we're up to talking divorce
    And we weren't even married

    :(

Meet me in the middle of the day let me hear you say everything’s ok
Bring me southern kisses from your room.

I went to bed at 2 with a ten

We’ll have time for coffee flavored kisses and a bit of conversation, oh

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, and never even know we have the key.

Just my read on some of the lyrics on
Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone"
( I find them liberating- telling someone it's OK to get rid of pretense, be yourself
    ...)
'You used to be so amused
at Napoleon in rags, and the language that he used
Go to him now he calls you, you can't refuse.
When you ain't got nothin', you got nothin' to lose.

You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.
    HOW DOES IT FEEL?

    Sweet Lucy was a dancer

This lyric has been stuck in my head for 35 years now. It's the lyrical equivalent of tinnitus.

    Too many.
This one recently after hearing it on TV. From George Harrison’s Beware of Darkness:
