Instead of in the hospital. My son called me just as I finished dinner and wanted to know if I wanted to go see Dune at the IMAX? Sure, so I hightailed it on over to his place and we went to the movies. We got our prerequisite LARGE drink with free refills, and an extra large popcorn, and proceeded to go watch the movie.

Not realizing, that more than thirty minutes of commercials, and over over two and a half hours of movie, combined with the consumption of said really, really large cola drink was going to exceed the running time of my water evacuation schedule, I had to give in near the end and make a quick trip to bathroom. After draining off what seemed to be about five gallons or so of liquid, I headed back to the movie.

I was feeling so energetic, after lighting my load, I was literally flying back up the stairs to my seat. Somehow I stumbled in the dark, and when I reached for the handrail that wasn't there, I fell upside down in between ( fortunately ) an unoccupied seat, smacking my head on the back of the seat in front of the one I fell in between, and slamming my back into the floor. I looked I'm sure quite a lot like a turtle on his back flailing away trying to get up from a very uncompromising position.

Very soon, several people had surrounded me, one of which unbelievably was a very nice lady who was a doctor. She thought at first I had a broken leg, but she didn't realize it was just twisted into a position I had neve seen it in before. She made me lie still while she checked me over. One of the chair arms punched me in the gut in the scuffle and I have an imprint bruise there this morning. Another nice lady came around as we were leaving to collect my name and an account of what happened. The guy in Dune who was in a knife fight as this was going on suffered a much worse fate then me.

Maybe the rest of the audience thought it was part of the movie!

I’m glad your fall didn’t cause a serious injury snd I’m happy for you that there were folks around to help. At a certain age you begin to realize how nice it to still be here every morning.

If I had been in the audience I might have asked for my money back for the disturbance!
    (glad you're OK) ;)

Yet another sterling example of why it is best to never stray more than a few yards from the couch. I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt.

When the lady from the theater showed up with the notebook, I thought I was in trouble for just that! ( I hate to say this, but my creating a disturbance might have been the most exiting thing in the movie ) I think I may have become totally inundated with CGI to the point, I just go numb with it.

It was pretty good, but it's totally different from the earlier Dune movie. It's dead serious where the first one had some lighter moments in it. Kind of disconcerting to find that it's actually a two part movie, and that the second part hasn't even been scheduled yet. My son was a bit put off, since we weren't aware it was that way. I told him he was liable to be as old as I am before he got to see the whole thing!

When I came limping in the door last night, my wife after showing some immediate concern, asked; Are you gonna be okay for our golf game Wednesday? My wife is a practical woman! :D

Dang, TD, this could have been 'way worse. Falls are never good, especially when they're downhill like that.

    I'm glad you're OK
