Esquire!

I caught a little bit of her ACL show and she pretty much (ok, very much)SCARES me, but I like her tobacco sunburst Esquire. It looks vintage from all its darker colors, but that doesn't mean crap in these relic'd days.

Does anyone know what it is?

Did I mention I got scared?

This is odd because I happened to be in the middle of her album 'Car wheels on a gravel road' when I saw this post. I think it's great... but I had no idea what she looked like!

Y'know, she's one of those artists that I feel I should like, but her music does nothing for me, for some reason. Go figure

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears

{video snipped}

With all due respect to a fine songwriter, Lucinda's pretty much plagiarizing herself here -- that tune is a near-twin to "Still I Long For Your Kiss," right down to most of the guitar solo. She does sound sober, though -- if true, that's very good news for her and her audiences.

I do dig her tune, I Changed The Locks On My Front Door, performed live. But that's about it.
Charlie Louvin did a tour with her last year. He blew her away a couple of times. Gotta love it. Traditional Country never dies!!!!

Lucinda is a great songwriter...

And a fantastic singer.

I went to her concert in Amsterdam Paradiso last year and it was a great show.
Her band was really good too, with Doug Petibone on guitar!

Sober...

Lucinda Williams - Still I Long For Your Kiss ..... :D

Yay! That's my good friend Chet Lyster on the Gretsch, giggling at her.

He just joined the band this year, after touring and recording with the Eels. He's a remarkable guitarist, and a spankin' sound engineer too: he recorded our album.

neat!

You're kidding, right? I would be a big fan if she could sing her songs. She's got some good material. Singing? Not so much.

I saw her with her band a couple years ago and they were all great. I think she's a fantastic singer, and she pulled it off flawlessly live. I suppose her style might not be for everyone. I think she has a very dynamic and emotive style, without going over the top too often.

I don't love all her music. She has some great songs but I think she's a better singer than writer.

And, yes. Change The Locks completely kicked ass. Why isn't that song on any of her albums? Tom Petty recorded it, and his version's not bad. Not as great as hers though. What a cool song!
