Oh, man.....and 'The Best Of' no less.

I found this treasure of tear-jerking creepiness in a stack of old LP's while sorting through stuff at my MOL's farmhouse today. It's definitely going home with us tomorrow.

Aw man, sweet! My father loved Red Sovine, or any country artist that would tell a story, he was a sucker for it. I totally forgot about Giddy-Up-Go. That goes down like too much sugar in your sun-tea...

I remember that. One of my best grade school friends had those records. He’d play them often when I was over hanging out.
Some were cool. most were cringy.

Well now I just noticed he as a version of Lay Down Sally on there and I gotta say it ain't half bad. Kinda sounds like he did a decent karaoke performance over Clapton's backing track, but overall it's alright.
    I was not expecting that.

Red Sovine is a name I haven’t thought of in years. Some great tunes and then there was the rest of his catalogue

I haven't thought about him in decades. I was shocked for several reasons to read that he died in 1980. First of all, I must have heard of it and forgot having grown up steeped in country music. Second I was shocked that he was only 62. He looks like he's 85 on that album cover. 3rd, his manner of demise was rather harrowing: MI followed by blunt force trauma.

Well, old Red's sappy songs sold a bazillion more records than any of mine did..which were zero.

That is some of the heaviest, deepest, most overdone reverb on lead vocals I've heard in a long time.

I haven't heard that name since my brother had one of his 8-tracks.
