Post a simple thing that you love—but VEHEMENTLY!

Yesterday my wife bought these REALLY NICE thin crispy ginger snaps. I ate a few and I thought GOT DANG but these would go great with vanilla ice cream!! So I drove all the way to the nearest convenience store and I bought a single serving cup of vanilla ice cream and after dinner I started making ginger snap vanilla ice cream sandwiches and I WAS RIGHT! They were awesome but too slow! So I hadda just crush the cookies in my fist and dump em on top of the ice cream and violently stir them in and OMGZCFRGHJIDWWER it was the best thing I ate all week! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. You gotta try that if you never have!

All chiles, but especially god's pepper... the Hatch... they work in everything and are just coming into season here, with stands on the side of the road selling pre-roasted bags for almost nothing (think I paid as low as $20 for 10lbs last year, went through roughly 20lbs overall since last harvest)

Our white German shepherd mutt, Ella ( long gone, RIP, baby) absolutely loved these!

I would ask, " Oatmeal pie?" and Ella's ears would perk up, cocked her head, run over to me and we'd share Little Debbie OMP.
Then she'd lick the wrapper for 20 minutes.
    Edit, just found a pic!

My wife and I 'fight' over rigatoni ( which I grew up with) vs. ziti ( which she prefers)

I just like the larger shape, but it's really win-win as she is an awesome cook and her pasta/ sauce ( either meat sauce or her boulder-size meatballs) is still the best I've ever eaten.
    * usually she will mix in some cheese ravioli with either pasta- too good!

Pick up a fallen walnut while it still has the green fleshy covering around it. Scratch that covering and then smell the area that you scratched. I VEHEMENTLY love that smell.

    Okay, but needs more vehemence!

That sounds good! I haven’t had any kind of float but root beer for maybe even decades though...

I’m growing jalapeños this summer as a quarantine distraction; they’re growing but somehow not hot at ALL...maybe I’m pickin em too soon...

I guess that’s pasta? I love pasta! I’ve asked for one of those hand-crank pasta roller machines for my birthday; don’t know if if does any fancy shapes though...

I...am very curious! Wonder if I can find a green walnut...

Tacos are awesome! I grew up on the crunchy shell type, but there’s a truck that parks by the hardware store in my home town that I always hit in the summer—well, except for the last two years- that makes great street tacos. I usually get carnitas myself. Corn flour tortillas are rare as hen’s teeth in Japan, but I found a store that sells the corn flour for em, and I have made em for enchiladas a couple times.

I much prefer brown rice, wholewheat pasta and wholemeal bread. The flavours and textures feel 'normal' to me, after 40 years.

When my wife buys rice, she gets it from a rice store that will polish it anywhere between brown and white that you like. She gets it partway done (I forget if it’s 70% brown or 70% white). It’s a good compromise! I like brown bread okay but I prefer white flour for pancakes.

You're probably fine, there's lots of heat variability with jalapenos even on the same plant, but they can dip down to the low 2,000s on the Scoville scale. The kind you get on sandwiches tend to be more uniformly hot owing to the pickling, I guess, but the whole ones I buy at the store are hit or miss.

I am a sugar addict, currently in recovery and in "calorie counting" mode (I aim for 12-1400 per day), also intermittent fasting: eating only between noon and 8 p.m. Counting calories has worked for me before, and it's time I let it work again; I've lost 25 pounds in the last month, but have plenty more pounds where those came from.

Cookies and ice cream, much as I love things like that, are dead to me right now. But a half-cup of oatmeal, microwaved and garnished with a cut-up peach, will go down real easy when noontime comes, and that will last me until about 4:00, when I'll make a 400-calorie burrito with a little leftover chili, cottage cheese, steamed cauliflower, sauerkraut, and hot sauce.

Those lunchtime burritos are my love rant lately.
