Like for instance I never understood why mama wanted to take his Kodachrome away. Was she a B&W enthusiast?

I just figured that Kodak must have paid Paul Simon to drop a product placement in one of his songs.

Lyrics? Pfft. I’d be fine if every melody were hummed.

Late one day in the middle of the week
Eyes were closed, I was half asleep
I chased me a woman up the hill
Right in the middle of an air-raid drill
    I jumped a fallout shelter
    I jumped a string bean
    I jumped a TV dinner

    I jumped a shotgun

    Any song by Yes.

    I'll be the roundabout
The words will make you out 'n' out
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley....

...And you and I climb over the sea to the valley
And you and I reached out for reasons to call...

    What ???

A few of the lyrics from Frampton's "Show Me the Way":

...no one to relate to except the sea...

...when someone drops a cup and I submerge.

    Someone thought of healing...

Clouds are stalking islands in the sun. I wish I could buy one out of season

Ever listen to Sugaree lyrics? ( I've sung it for years w/o paying attention to...)

Musically, It's a ' feel good' trippy jam song that our band plays every gig

Folks dance and sing along with chorus...
BUT it's about a black slave couple ( that are NOT supposed to be!) wanting to escape the South and what to do if she ' Sugaree' gets caught:
" Just don't tell 'em you know me."

You beat me to it! I'm a big Yes fan, but their lyrics are pure acidhead nonsense.

As an old guitar playing friend once told me..."Lyrics?...oh, you mean those things between the guitar solos?"

    Remember the Cocteau Twins?

    Get off the car
Kick his chain, Kick his pride
    Get him soaked hit run
    Lift up your toes
    In my mouth
    And we can make love
    And we can go
We're covered by the sacred fire
When you come to me, you come to broke
    Without a doubt
We're covered by the sacred fire
When you come to me, you come to me broke
    Guilty girl, Guilty boy
    Get to make out
    Him chocked with mousse
    Lift up your toes
    In my mouth
    And we can make love
    And we can go

It's a great song (I like it, too), and I get that he's painting the scene of a "Particular Scene" but individually the lines and lyrics make no sense, especially if you don't know the back story...

It wasn't meant to be an insult--I apologize if you were offended.

Jeez, I had the impression I understood almost every lyric posted above as nonsensical...
But I also spent my '40s and '50s finding out on the internet what the words actually were, when I'd made up sensible stuff to fill int the blanks.

How many who find old Rock lyrics nonsense never dropped acid?
Might fix that problem right up for you!

I just thought of another... pretty much everything ever written by Ronnie James Dio. example:

    Don't write in starlight
Cause the words may come out real

    Don't hide in doorways
You may find the key that opens up your soul

    Don't go to Heaven
    Cause it's really only Hell

    Don't smell the flowers
They're an evil drug to make you lose your mind
