I've heard this song Love Hurts before but never gave it any attention, sort of rock & parsley.

Julian finds the deeper beauty hidden inside the otherwise bland tune, his harmonic mastery adds a lot to the appeal of his performance. And done in a way that doesn't sound like "jazz", but it is. Frisell, and Sco do it too. In fact those two players come to mind in Jules performance, and of course that goes back to Jim Hall. Mojo,,,

In my critique here I have to say Julian's solo is great,,,,, but was it necessary? It is a signature thing for Jules to go high up the neck and bank on the screech and metallic tone put on a bend. I've heard that before in his pretty tunes and I would like if Julian gave it a break and keep it pretty, soloing softer. At least sometimes.

It's 'by' the Everley Brothers actually, and was covered by Roy Orbison before Naz got their hands on it. ;)

But I prefer the raw edge of Dunfermline's finest.
Thanks for that, so Julian's not playing a 21st century tune, the band is what threw me.

The memories of Roy are flooding back.

That's two Roy Orbison songs on this recording. Hmm,

I love this version, it has an almost no-wave delivery by cheery voices with a uke.
