Robben is playing one of his Fender sig models. It was called the Esprit (early 1980s), and they didn't make very many of the US version. IIRC, they did a run of MIJ or MIK too. Find one of either and you've got a killer guitar.

Yeah, and I think that Sanborn's playing his Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone.

Retail Value (approx): $6,000 (US) To keep his reeds humidified without over-soaking them, David soaks the reeds in water in a bell jar. First he soaks them for a couple of hours in the jar, and then empties out most of the water so that the reeds won't get wet, but will still stay humid. He finds this technique extremely valuable.

Very cool!

Got a laff out of the censors completely missing the first reference to peepee, and then blanking out the second one.

I remember when this show was on TV. They always had great music played by great people--whether I liked the music or not--and it was all fantastic.

Also, what do you know about Mike Rathke? I can hardly find any info on him except... he was Lou's brother-in-law and played on the New York album?

I know nothing, except that he was in Lou's band in the late '80/early '90s. Lou seemed to like playing with him. Looking up Mike Rathke is complicated by the fact that there is also a Christian Music guitarist of the same name.

i can't listen to anything off that New York album without feeling the ghost of many 90's hangovers.
