I caught them last night at a local music venue. I was able to get right up to the edge of the stage. About the first third of the show was Spanish language songs done on traditional instruments. Even if that was all they did I would have felt that I got my money's worth. Mostly they did the hits. Not a lot of new things. But they rocked the house!

As far as gear goes, mostly Deluxe Reverb's, Fishman acoustic amps. Guitars were Stratocasters and a Les Paul Custom with P-90's for a couple of songs. From what I could see, Boss pedals and a Fulltone OCD.

Years ago my girlfriend at the time saw them in a bar in east Tucson. When I asked her how the show was, she lit up and said excitedly, "I'd follow them to El Paso!" I think she'd still feel the same way.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing them live, but they are on my short list.

I saw them open for Clapton a few years ago. Great tunes with lots of energy. They version of the Grateful Dead’s “Bertha” was their big show closer. Caesar was playing through a big old Bandmaster that he had cranked! I’d gladly see them play again. They had the whole place dancing.

There was an older Hispanic man standing next to me who knew every word of every song and was singing and dancing and having the time of his life. He was representative of the general vibe in the room. Just a great night.

One of the best live acts I’ve ever seen. Their shows are a blast.

They are on a small venue tour in April. The Sweetwater in Mill Valley holds about 200. World Records in Bakersfield fronts a theatre. Los Lobos will play to about 450 there.

I saw them some years ago at a free Houston festival along Buffalo Bayou. I had no idea who they were at the time. I was able to get close enough to lean on the stage.
Yousa... What a band. I had come to hear Buckwheat Zydeco. Los Lobos was a very pleasant surprise. (BZ was great too.)

David Hidalgo is one of the most musical people ever! Sings, plays guitar, violin, accordion...all amazing. Love their albums with Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake

My wife and I caught them up here in Burlington Ontario a couple of years ago. Incredible show! They like to close with something by a Canadian artist when they play in Canada and did an awesome rendition of Cinnamon Girl

Fantastic band, musically.....but from what I hear, the're also great people, too. They remain loyal and faithful to their longtime friends and families, and their musical (cultural) influences make them superior to many other long-lived bands. Long Live Los Lobos!!!!!!

Not to mention that it's been the same guys in the band forever. David's son is the drummer and the "new guy" is Steve Berlin.
