I am looking for a 12 inch speak to use in a small closed back cab. My amps are Quilter SuperBlock US and Katana 100 MkII head. I like a clean-to-mild dirt blues kind of sound. I like good mids and tend to prefer the British voiced speakers. Eminence Speakers seem to have higher power handling capacities. I thought I wanted the Greenback sound but I was listening to some YouTube sound samples from Quilter and the Eminence Legend V128 had a noticeably sweeter and cleaner voice compared to the Greenback..... and the V128 is rated at 120 watts.
I know it's risky using YouTube vids, so I thought I would ask for opinions.

The specs and other links for reference (for descriptive purposes only -- no endorsement/affiliation):

Basic characteristics of the V128:

VC: 1.75"
Power: 120W
Imp: 8ohms (only)
Freq response: 80-5000 (nominally very typical for a 12" powerful guitar driver)
Magnet: 38oz ceramic
(etc)

To my ears, many of the higher powered Emi 12" drivers tend to sound pretty similar to one another (not all of course). I had considered the V128 in the past, but after researching more and looking at some other options, ended up with the WGS ET65.

Good luck. If you get one, please post back and let us know how it works out.

If you're looking for British, the Red Coat series is the direction at Eminence.

My experience in general with the Legend series is that they tame the treble more. More of an all around everything speaker. Balanced might be a good word for them.

I just listened to some sound clips of the WGS Veteran 30 and it was very impressive too.

This speaker will go in a 1x12 closed back cab and low volume use. The 60 watt rating of the WGS is more attractive to me. I typically like the sound of lower power rated speakers at low volume. I don’t know if that’s a real thing but high power rated speakers seem stiff to me.

Balanced is good for my setup. My amps all seem to have a generous treble response and would likely benefit from a bit less treble response fron the speaker.

I've got a 10" Legend in my Super Champ XD. Great full-range speaker with a lot of headroom. Crystal clear highs, and yes, cleaner than a Greenback. It really took my little Super Champ up a notch when I replaced the stock speaker.

I acquired a Legend V128 in a trade and really like this speaker in a 2x12 cab, alongside an Eminence Texas Heat. They sound really great together.....punchy, clear and very touch-sensitive. I mostly use this with my DV-Mark Little 250M head. But, I've also used it with my Fender Twin Head with great results.

My favorite speaker. Have them in 2 1-12"s. But I have the 16 ohm version the V1216. To me it's the best guitar speaker Eminence makes. Sort of like a Vintage 30 without all the ear fatigue.
