My vote goes to Muchxs also. I have one of his 5f1's and it's built like a tank.
Don't forget, depending on the kit you buy, you'll be tossing the pots and tube sockets as soon as you open the box so add that in. Then, from my experience, you'll send it off to Muchxs to put together after he throws half the other parts away because nothing fits!!! Do it yourself, and you can add in the cost of a circuit board that you won't have to cut down with a saw and drill the correct holes in.
There's a Muchxs-built 5f1 for sale on the local CL: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/msg/5752823690.html
I'm not opposed to serving as an intermediary. Frankly, I could do without the temptation of it.
Steal of a price. Looks just like mine!
No kidding! If I hadn't just bought an Allen Encore, I'd be all over it.
Yeah. Only mine is made of 200 year old wood from an antique dresser, has a conn speaker made by Cleveland, and a powdercoated chassis loaded with plenty of cool old parts. Oh, and the handle is Bakelite on mine.
I'd still value it at more than even a victoria.
muchxs champ, or just play acoustic.
Thanks to all of you guys !
I'll consider the different options
Just to say, I'd suggest going after that MuchXS 5F1, using Cheecharron as the intermediary (as he has offered).
There is NO chance you will find a better version.
Wow!!! Awesome deal!
Another very satisfied muchxs 5f1 owner here. I'm soooo tempted to buy the one listed above but won't. Whoever does will be very pleased.......
You're not going to go wrong with a Muchxs amp, but if you want to consider an alternative, the Goodsell Champton is a killer amp. It's a hybrid tweed Champ / tweed Princeton circuit. 10" GSW custom speaker. I had a bright cap mod done to mine, so the voicing is a bit more Princeton and a bit less Champ, but that suits my personal taste. It is a killer 5W-er and should easily come in within or under your price range unless you get nuts with the custom mods. Plus Richard Goodsell is a super nice guy and great to deal with.
I can also recommend going the other end. Get a cheap Champ clone from China and put the chassi and speaker in another cab?
In Europe it's the Fame/Joyo JTA-05 seen here: http://www.tdpri.com/threads/cheap-champ-from-china-joyo-fame-jta-05.625485/
and in USA it's the Chickenhead amps: http://chickenheadamps.com/f51.html
This way you can spend more on tubes, extra cabs, another speaker and still have money left over.

Mark built be an amp years ago (to my specs) that is one of the best I've ever heard. Very high build quality, at a very reasonable price. Incredible tone!!
Looks like a fair deal here to me:
