Yesterday was the longest, but best day of my life! On 11/17/09 at 3pm my wife went into labor with our first child. On 11/18/09 at 5:28pm she was born through a c-section. My wife is tiny and the baby wouldn't fit out so they had to do the c-section. Baby is a girl 8lbs 2 ozs and is healthy. Mom is doing great. I was very emotional and cried as soon as the baby let out her first cry.

Congrats (!) and happy birthday to your daughter, and glad to hear everyone is OK.

    Congratulations!

I've been trough that twice in the last two-and-a-half years, so I know what you are saying. I almost start crying just by thinking back at those first cries in the surgery room.

My daughter three, and also fell apart the moment she was born. I still fall apart every time she says "Daddy".
    Congratulations Dad!

    Congratulations!

Take good care of your wife while she's healing, c-sections are common but still serious surgery.

Congratulations! I joined the same club this past March 30th, when my son Rowan was born. What an amazing journey.

Here's a good tip if you can spring for it: they say we're supposed to buy our spouses a 'push present' for the ordeal of birth. After scoffing at this for a bit, I realized it made sense-I didn't have to go through all that the way she did, so I got her a day at the spa to be used a month or two after she got home with the baby. When that day came, I watched the boy and took care of everything, and she got to go be free of it all and be pampered for a little while. Worked out great.

    Enjoy-they are just incredible:)

    Oh, and one little tip:

Remember that she will only be this little baby for a couple of weeks. Then she will become the baby she'll be for a couple of months. Then...

What I'm trying to say is that you better take every chance to spend time with her, because the first weeks, months and years passes very, very quickly. You are just borrowing her for a while.

Congratulations! Spend as much time with that baby girl as you can. I know that it will seem like it is going slow when she is up every 2 hours at night, or you are changing diapers 12 times a day, but she will be walking and talking before you know it.
