You might consider transcribing and write out that little solo at 2:24 and post it to this thread. It would give it a little added value beyond clickbait for you tube and a-z chords.

Plus it would be cool.

Saw the Stills-Young Band ( and this song played) live in '76 ( I think)

- for some reason, not processing that they were actually playing together.
Thought the guys were only playing separately- 'duh!'

Would later do this song in an acoustic 4-piece College group ( I was 'lead guitar'- not singing - like CSN&Y, just with 2 singers, 3 guitars)

Play it at home now for kicks, practicing chords, ( it's in my 'Neil Young rolodex')

It's an OK song- written about Neil's car...

Greetings from Sunny New Jersey
Couple of changes needed:
The first line of the verses goes D, DMaj7, G, D - not D, A, G, D
And there's no G chord after the Bb chord that he throws in there at the end of the chorus. Just Bb back to D (with an e-to-f flourish briefly added while on the Bb)

Also, no D chord on the word "still" in the second line, it goes straight from G to A.

There’s just one problem with your source, @Flat6Driver
According to the Wikipedia page about the album that produced the song, there were two hearses named “Mort” - Mort and Mort 2.

Long May You Run

Anyway, we can agree that the song’s about a car.

If I recall correctly from his books, the hearse referred to in the song was a Buick. I forget where the "chrome heart" was located, but being a hearse, it could have been anywhere.😉

I do believe my cousin has a Buick hears just like the one shown in the first article there. It has been sitting in his backyard for decades. I may take a ride this afternoon on the Harley to check it out. I remember working on a straight eight Buick engine in the early ‘60s when my father had a garage serving a small agricultural community. The Buick would pump water…and sounded great doing it. All of the 389 Pontiacs sang a different song….straight pipes blaring at the sky.
