The prostitutes and weed perhaps?
So why jam in London?
I like London! Lived there for several months on different occasions in the 70's, Lancaster Gate and Finsbury Park. I wish I could get over more often; that's why I'm griping about the mismatched train fares. Last time we went to a jam there with the Eurostar, and it was quite reasonably priced - and the same in both directions!
Haven't been here for a bit - has a date & venue been set?
27th October, to be confirmed shortly.
Thanks Angelo. Count me in.
Yes! At the moment that works for me.
I’m off to Lisbon and then onto Qatar the following weekend so this is ideal for me!
Oh good-o guys.
One thing: the drummer boy and bass boy I lined up can't make that date. Having said that, there is always Howard Tibble, who for £50 will provide pro-level drumming for most of the session, assuming he's available.
Not sure about bass, but that's less of an issue, I'd say, as Peter Savage, the guy who's played keys the last 2 times, can play bass too.
Any other ideas?
IF ... and that is an IF... I can make it I will happily play the bass guitar all day long. But it is still up-in-the-air for me. Travel costs are prohibitive. Flights are cheap, but if you carry any baggage the price starts creeping up!
Good to know Jon, thanks. Let us know, it'd be great to see you.
Happy for you to play my bass, Jon, if you can make it to the jam. In fact there's a choice of two!
The Euroguestock events always have an audio and video recording. I used to take care of that on-site, but my tinnitus got too bad. But I still mix and edit the digital files after the event, and put them on YouTube, so everyone has a permanent momento of the day. If you'd like me to do the same thing for you guys, let's have a discussion about what you're intending to record on, and the settings that work best.
Euroguestock iV ended with a gig in Brussels and the sound crew were able to send me a multitrack recording aftwerwards, so I was able to do a full mix in my home studio. The video was a combination of a static camcorder on a tripod, some handheld phones and stock library footage.
This is a fair example of the end result we achieved:
I'm arranging my trip to Europe this week. I'll be in Finland, Sweden and Germany first so I don't think I'll schlep a tele along. (maybe my Traveler Speedster) This sounds like fun.
I'll have a few with me which you are more than welcome to use.
Please do book Howard Angelo! As well as being a top-notch drummer he's a super nice guy and tells some great stories.
I'm more than happy to play some bass if needed. I'll chuck mine in the car just in case.
Howard booked, as is the studio, usual place from 11am to 6pm on Sunday 27th October.
Address: Westbourne Rehearsal Studios, 92-98 Bourne Terrace, London W2 5TH, Studio 3
Could everybody confirm their presence, please?
@AngelStrummer: yes! At the moment. No travel plans for that day other than heading to Westbourne Rehearsal Studios!
At present I'll be there.
At time of writing I certainly intend to be present, if not entirely correct!
