It's my Dad's birthday next month and I'm thinking of what gift to get him to help him kill the boredom of the current UK Coronavirus lockdown.

He's self taught and plays Rhythm Acoustic and Bass, big fan of the Rolling Stones and that kind of music.

    Any ideas much appreciated.

Fender Play? There are some other subscription-based applications that help you practice, too.

Or lessons over Skype? Do shop around but I can drop you a DM with someone in the UK I'd recommend for that.

Otherwise you can't fail with songbooks!

If he doesn't know already, teach him to play in Open G, for that Keef riffage and vibe.

Buy him a slide, since he's tuned down for it. It's a whole new world of musical ideas.

Backing tracks, that way he can get a feel for playing along with others and/or the iPro Real app (on Androids too) .
Not expensive, use the existing backing tracks, add/create your own or download others from ireal pro forums.

Yes, I love my Harmony Singer. It's not perfect, but almost. Great for solo gigs, allows me to do many songs that are otherwise hard to pull off with no harmonies. And, it's just plain fun!

If he likes CDs and doesn't have Get Yer Ya-Yas Out, he'll love it. A legendary live album.

Give him the best gift you can give any guitarist (including yourself) - a complete setup by someone who knows exactly what he/she is doing.
