Hello everyone! Looking for some opinions here. My anniversary is coming up and the wife wants to get me a guitar! Awesome, right? Trying to nail down some options. I'd like to get a second Epiphone Casino, in Red, but they're a little hard to come by when you prefer to play before you buy. One of my other options is the Loar LH-301T. I really like these guitars. They play great are sound amazing for slide work! Would work for my band, but I'd like to use it for solo shows as well. I'd like to do something like this but with the 301T. I don't expect it to sound as full as the 309, and I would prefer the thinner body.

The 50th anniversary Casino's didn't come in red, but they are fantastic guitars and a cut above the standard model. I've played a few loar's and none of them have been bad at all, but I keep wanting to like them more than I do when I play them. Does Eastman offer you a model you like? I lean towards those a little more than the Loar's, but not because the Loar's are bad, just always slightly underwhelmed.

Though I should say that I can't remember the last time I picked up any new guitar in a store and wasn't underwhelmed. New guitars are stiff and brittle and usually don't have the right strings on them--if they have any setup at all.

Also, old harmony rockets were getting pricey for while, following the guitar trend, but I've noticed them coming back down to normal levels. These are good options too.

If I found a 50th, I would grab that over red right away. I have an Inspired By John Lennon Casino (see avatar) with Gibson P90s, and it is amazing. I've called every store in Atlanta, no one has red or 50th, and if they actually have one in stock, it's natural and I'm not interested.

I've got a 301T and it plays and sounds good. Craftsmanship was a little spotty, but nothing that affects functionality. Mainly cosmetic.

Check out the Guild T-50 Slim. I have one and love it.
