I love it but my wife hates it and the smell of it cooking and won’t allow it to be cooked in the house.

Used to make this for myself in bulk when I was single and then freeze portions.

I like liver and onions but I make it as a slow cook casserole with garlic tomato small potatoes mushroom kidney beans and red wine balsamic vinegar.

Absolutely delicious. Inexpensive. Only reason I don’t make it any more is family objections to liver being in the house at all.

The smell is better than the taste

Render some bacon in a cast iron skillet. Put in livers. Put in sliced onions. Cook down. Season simply with salt and pepper. Serve and top with green onions.

One of my favorites. Nutritionally amazing despite what the vegans say. There’s a reason liver was always prized among cultures and tribes since the beginning of time.

You haven't lived if you haven't eaten it in its "whole enchilada " form

Same here. It’s on my list of things NOT to acquire, right behind STDs.

Take the onion and use it in another dish. Toss the liver in the trash.

I should never read "food" threads before eating. I've completely lost my appetite. Possibly for a week or more. When I was in the Navy they served up Liver at least once every other week. I thought I might acquire a taste for it if I just kept trying. I finally threw in the towel and learned to fast twice a month. An empty stomach but good for the soul.

As a child I was forced to eat it, since it was served to us. I adapted a cut small and swallow whole like pills method. The onions helped to clean the taste from my mouth.

A wise man once told me, "You can't make ice cream out of excrement":D

As a matter of fact, I bought some beautiful chicken livers at the local butcher to air fry for dinner. Very lightly coated with well-seasoned flour, then I’ll make a nice gravy with the drippings and serve it all over brown rice. I’ll make a nice Caprese salad on a bed of bib lettuce right from yonder patio.

It doesn’t get much tastier and healthier than that! I just finished breakfast and already my mouth is watering thinking about it.

It IS an acquired taste.....and I acquired the taste 40+ years ago at Luby's Cafeteria. They did what they called "French Broiled" liver and grilled onions. The beef liver wasn't very good, but the chicken was delicious. I preferred lots of onions PLUS cream gravy. Paired with candied yams (the sweet balances the liver taste) and asparagus or green beans, and you have an amazing meal.

Although I like fried chicken livers, I'm not a fan of liver & onions.

Pretty darn similar experience in our family too. I have not had liver and onions since I was a kid back in the sixties. I bake turkey liver and heart separately while cooking a turkey, just to have a little snack while cooking.

Dropping it in the trash on the way out the door to go find some food is how I cook it.

I may get hungry enough to eat guts one of these days, but that day hasn't arrived!
