If Little Richard came out today he still would be ahead of his time. All hail his royal royalness king Richard!

When I was just knee high to a grasshopper, I saw Little Richard performing Tutti Fruitti on TV. I think it was the Ed Sullivan show iinm. I fell in love with him and Rock and Roll music right then and there. I had never seen such unbridled energy on display. My feet started moving and my head started shaking like a rat on crack lol. My parents were appalled. That made me like him even more.

Edit: If this isn’t the actual performance, it’s close enough as I remember. The time is about right that’s for sure. Keep in mind at the time nothing like this compared.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard LR on the radio. It was a gift from the gods directly to me.
I got to see him preach a sermon one time; it was every bit as wild as his records.
