Here's a little jazz lick to be played over a Imaj7 chord. This would be in the key of C. Its a Imaj7 appregio to start with, then a bIIIdim appregio in the middle, resolving to the fifth note of the key. Well, that's my lame explaination, heres the lick. All eight notes.

    ---------------------------------8-------
    ------------------------------10--10-8-
    -------5-------5-8-----8-11------------
    -----5--5s4-7----7-10-----------------
    ---7-------------------------------------
    -8---------------------------------------

I guess the point is that a Imaj7 appregio mixed with a bIIIdim appregio sound pretty cool mixed together. I've got my gig bag book of Appregios in front of me, and I'm making a ton of cool lines out of it. I got turned onto the combo by some sheet music of "All of Me", which uses the chord combo Imaj7-bIIIdim-iim7-V7 at the turnaround.
