My dad is 93 with some significant health issues. He still lives independently but he's on the edge.

I figured as much. You're lucky to still have him as long as you have. My dad passed when I was 29. (He was 72)

Yeah I knew that (generally). My dad and I weren't always close, but I really wish I could still speak with him, compare notes, etc. I'm not sure he'd approve of my "dangerous" hobbies however.

Still going to Summit Point?

My sister called from Ecuador the day before she died from breast cancer metastatized to her lungs. I wasn't home, and she left a message. I kept that message on my phone a long time. RIP, Les.

TD after a heart valve operation ( born with a crook one, still surfed , swam etc) I don't want to think of the last day.

I know what you mean TT. I'm going to be 80 next month, you can't help but wonder how much rope is left on the roll.

A while back now but I still remember my mother-in-law dying. She'd been in hospital for a week or so, serious but sortable we were told.

I had to fly to Ireland on business. Rang Mrs Wrighty from the airport and she said that she was going shopping before she visited Mum as the weather looked bad.

Landed in Ireland with a message to call her on my 'phone. MIL had passed away 1/2 hour before Mrs Wrighty got to the hospital.

I felt bad for not insisting on cancelling my trip, Mrs Wrighty felt bad for going shopping first............................

My mom is in her last days. Glad I got to spend this last week with her and my dad. Hoping she passes peacefully. This next little stretch is truly gonna suck.

A little 6-year old boy beautifully explains why dogs,

have shorter lives than humans,

“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life —
like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”

This Six-year-old Boy who's dog had just died continued to explain,

“Well, dogs already know how to do that,
so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.”

If I see Joe Black grinning at me across the way, I'm gonna say in a loud voice, please excuse me for a moment, nature calls. Then I'm going out that back window and going to Idaho.
