Anyone here have experience with these in a Tele?

I like the idea of "dark and thick, perfect for balancing a bright Telecaster" but I don't want them too dark. I want to be able to get great crunchy rock tones out of the bridge pickup, but also be able to roll back the volume knob for some twangy cleans.

So I guess my main question is can these still twang?

    I would say Yes.
A friend of mine has a set of Lindys on his Tele.
While they aren't exactly like their Fender counterparts, they can be controlled by your Guitar and the Tone settings on your amp.

Fralin makes many different types of Tele pickups. Are your friend's the high output variety?
