Speaking as a two time Rat owner, it looks like ProCo has surrendered to Donner/Mooer who have been making smaller clones with actual LM308 op-amps for several years now. Too little, too late?

While the chips in those offshore Rat clones say "LM308" on them, remember that:

A) The LM308 has been discontinued for over 20 years.
B) You can also buy $200 guitars with "Gibson Les Paul" or "Rickenbacker" on the headstocks from the same suppliers.

I like that they kept the enclosure basically the same but smaller, vs stuffing it in the same small boxes that almost every other mini pedal uses. From an aesthetic standpoint. Not enough to buy one.

While it is (hopefully) widely known that there is such a thing as a knockoff product what may not be widely known is that there is also such a thing as a knockoff component or part.

It is not beyond or above unscrupulous suppliers to fake things like an LM308 or a special tube etc knowing it will increase the perceived value of the end product.

It’s cute. I wouldn’t mind having one. I’m really glad they didn’t go too small with it. I would love to hear what 11gauge thinks of the circuit of this one.

The circuit is supposed to be exactly the same as the current Rat2.

That demo sounds pretty fierce- good hard rock sound.

And I like the fact that it looks like a Rat,
Am assuming no battery, though?

( I still like batteries in pedals for quick stand alone use, especially dirt pedals, but I could live with this one!)

From what I heard, they are nearly identical. I'd say if there was a slight difference, it can be attributed to the filter not being dialed in exactly the same on both - but I think we're splitting hairs here - its all Rat!

Why do I feel like these will sell out they day they hit the market?

We don't know how much yet, right?

Have not heard. I got on the list at Sweetwater first thing Monday AM. I'm going to go out on a limb and say these are going to come in at $99. More expensive than current Rat2 because they have to recoup the redesign and development costs - its basically a new pedal, considering the work that had to go into it. They might go for YDR/TurboRat pricing, but $99 seems like a sweet spot for it.
