Thanks! I actually jumped in to see if they had the organ by Al Kooper isolated, and they do. That's what I'm listening to.

The story about him playing on this is a great one.

That organ is more basic than I realized, but the guitar work is sublime.

I won't put my opinion on someone else, as music taste is really personal and individual-

But " Like a Rolling Stone" is my #1 fave rock song, and maybe one of the first rockers ( I sort of think of 'rock' as a kind of intangible move away from 4/4, blues-based R&R, or the '50's pop ballads- it's 'Rock' because it isn't BOB-DYLAN-Positively-4th-Street-April-13th-1966-Australia.jpg those things)

Bob Dylan and this song, and that album, just fascinate me- permanent condition...

Bob and Co. LIVE 1966, England ( I think)
    And of course, Mikey:

Sheeee-zam! Thanks so much for posting this, TeleBluesMan! What a treat! I know this song better than my own face, but it was great to hear its isolated tracks. I always wanted to hear them this distinctly.

I especially enjoyed that tack-hammery, percussive piano. Nice tensions and releases throughout.

And the drums. Great breaks, and fine tones, and aptly getting fiercer as the song progressed.

The bass sounds like rubber bridge cables. Thick and bouncy. And about zero sustain. Thus quite percussive, as well.

The vocals were interesting, too. Bob sounds almost Jaggeresque here, when Mick was in his Pure Snarl modes of yore. You can also hear where Bob flubs a bit in his rhythm guitar playing. And I swear, that's a Jaguar, not a Strat, that he's playing here. Got that chewy, murky sound of a Jag's neck pickup/rhythm circuits.

Bloomfield's guitar gets better as it progresses, but he seems the slowest to get the chord changes down. Kind of tentative in some of the first 3.5 minutes or so. Great tones, though. They sound pretty sweet, so was he on his Tele's neck pickup here or on a Les Paul?

This was like wandering a museum of fine art. Thanks again, TeleBluesMan! Made my day!

Pretty sure Mike's not playing a Les Paul on LARS. It sounds like a Telecaster to me, although as this photo shows at some point he had a Strat in his hands. Or is that a Jaguar?

What's amazing is how close they came to not getting the song down. With all the takes (and some in 3/4 time) its seems they almost got it by accident, not design.

I'm pretty sure its a Tele he plays on the sessions.

Looking at the pics here I wonder if the photo of Dylan I have is from those sessions.
