I think how a person honors a commitment they've made speaks volumes in terms of character. I also think someone who demands a person break their commitment or promise to another, speaks to that persons character as well.

I do understand, I chose the cats, too.
I never had a cat give me an ultimatum.

    Always choose animals over people.

I believe your decision will have two consequences.
1.) You will not marry a manipulative person.
2.) You have now cleared the way to meet someone you're meant to be with.

I wish you all the best.

    Mike ;)

Hahaha. Unless you hv never done any of the following: 1) cleaned up A dog pile or puddle, 2) cleaned up dog vomit, 3) cleaned up a bunch of chewed up whatever, 4) feed your dog store bought food, 5) given your dog some sort of shelter, etc etc., denial

Ms. Nutz says men who love cats are the sexiest men in the universe ... sorry, she’s mine ...

You’ll find someone so much cooler ...

ultimatums are challenges to your senses. I don't accept them well either. I ain't gonna tell my girl what to do with her cat so she don't tell me what to do with mine :)

Then there's Lyle Lovett who says, "You can have my girl, but don't touch my hat." I don't how he feels about cats, but he likes penguins. And he leaves his girl on the highway when she asks, "What's so great about Texas?" So there's all kinds of priorities.

I posted this recently in another thread:

This thread involves cats. My experience involved hats.

But it wasn’t about hats any more than the OP’s situation was about cats.

I choose to not be where I was not appreciated. Walk away from narcissistic, controlling people.

And don’t let it go on for 14 years before you realize you’ll be happier and more fulfilled apart.

Don’t stay where you are not valued for yourself, where your needs and feelings are irrelevant.

Walk away, or like the OP, help her move out.

    I’m glad I did.

    Agreed!
And once she makes you get rid of your guitars, and amps, she'll get rid of you!

This is a blessing in disguise.
    No joke.

    Yep.
I wouldn’t say I hate cats but honestly, thats irrelevant.
I don’t do ultimatums unless I am clearly and dangerously on the wrong side of an issue.
And then, only maybe and that’s if it comes from the right person.

The times I’ve seen dogs or cats given up for someone is the time I’ve seen a dog or a cat with a broken heart.
