Years ago when I worked in broadcasting I saw a license plate on a Austin Healey 3000 that read VDO HO. Turns out we had worked together on big tennis tournament in Houston in the 80s. I was video tech (cameras) and he was running SloMo

It's been many a year - but I once saw a white VW Rabbit with the license plate HARVEY. The VW was new at the time, so I guess it was the late 70's or early 80's???

Is there a connection from SR-71 to HABU?
The SR-71 HABU patch is a sew on, embroidered patch. The shield shaped patch measures 3.25" x 3" and has a straight on view of the Blackbird above the word HABU. Based at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, the nickname originated from the local people who thought the plane resembled the pit viper known as, "Habu."

So it was in fact a distant reference to a snake. Honda "Blackbird."

November 1990, first trip to the USA, driving up the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Oxnard (to go to a conference). In front of us was a sports car — iirc a red Lamborghini — with licence plate GARCIAJ. Was that Jerry himself?? I like to think so...
The only car I know associated with Garcia was a BMW of some sort.

I love trying to decode vanity plates. When I used to drive a lot for my job it was a good way to make the drive a little more interesting.

However, the most disturbing plate I ever saw was on a flashy car parked outside of a strip club that read: RU18YET

Apparently our DVLA ( look it up) has banned FU 2, and quite a few others .... Can't think why.
