Wow. There is a total disconnect between the recording and the band photo. Even in '61 white dudes playing blues should at least look the part. It's almost like The Letterman sing the blues.
Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks. Hawkins band was the breeding ground for a large number of musicians.Roy Buchanan played on Hawkins cut of ‘Who .do You Love’ in the late ‘50s. That is Hawkins singing...and it was his band. By 1964, Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel had joined the Hawks by then. In 1964, The Band was formed when Robertson, Helm, Danko, Hudson and Manuel left The Hawks.
