sad news on Levons site..........
That sucks terribly. I love that guy's playing. Sad news.
I'm really sad to read that, I hope the best for him and all close to him.
Horrible news, I'm pretty broken up. Thinking about Levon.
Sad news for sure. The Band has had a huge influence on me over the years and his contribution to The Band was more than significant. Doesn't seem like it was that many years ago that Rick Danko passed away.
very sad news indeed I wish I had gone to one of his rambles when I had the chance. sad very sad
What a huge loss to the music world in general, great vocalist, great drummer
One of the greats in every way. Prayers for him and his family.
Bad deal, hoping he was whipping it.
Incredible talent. I am so happy I got to see him play last fall.
I just saw this on FB and glad someone posted it here.
Very sad news and while I know he's had very serious health issues in the past, I had hoped that was behind him.
While most know of his work with The Band, I highly reccommend his Dirt Farmer album if you haven't heard it. An amazing piece of work given what he'd been through.
Prayers and thoughts with him and his family.
tears running down my face... no words.
If there's one thing on the planet I could wipe out right now it'd be cancer. Sick of it.
Love to Levon.
I'm sure that nobody will object when I state that this was without a doubt the best song he did. (I wanted to post the SNL version which is a better performance but I couldn't find it)
Very sorry to hear that.
I'm deeply saddened!
I'm the world's biggest Band fan, and Levon was very much an important reason for that! A great singer and multi-instrumentalist who has put his mark on rock music history.
We all know he played the occasional guitar or mandoline, but his bass playing on this one is as good as anything he's ever done ... So simple and so right for the song - Rick couldn't have done it better!
I'll admit I'm fighting tears right now. That man and his music has been an important soundtrack to my life and to think of the world without Levon in it is not a happy thought.
There better damn well be a drum kit on the other side.
Best wishes for an easy transition Levon.
One of the best. My thoughts go out to Levon and his family.
On the bright side maybe Levon, Rick Danko, and Lowell George can get together and create an awesome country rock trio.
