Here's my short (23 3/4") scale Wishnevsky guitar. It plays great, sounds great, and has really good intonation, but it is really ugly!

you win. :) glad she plays great.. and you do not have to look at her from the front when playing.. looks like who ever cut the body out on the band saw had a way to many beers.. def not very easy on the eyes, but heck.. sometimes that what draws us to them in the first place.

Got this pretty cheap as a b-stock (tiny paint blem on the back corner.)

Bought it as a wall hanger. Turned out to be a lot more comfortable and fun to play than I expected.

In the real world, it's a far deeper, richer red. Kind of a darker fire engine red.

Little bit o' modding. so far, most of it cosmetic.

I love it, but most people think it's butt fugly. It's the only guitar I owned that didn't get destroyed in a flood back in september, but I'm soon to have another Tele.

I sold this Yamaha Samurai reissue (the cheap, MIC version) a couple of years back, but a lot of people thought it was hideous:

    Whoa. Not ugly, Nick.

I remember them kicking around when I was a young tacker. Kinda Strat-ish. Would dig to have one now.

Yeah it is! It's made from some crappy planks of Tassie Oak from Bunnings and finished with a paper towel dipped in some Japan Black. :D

Ibanez HBs from an old RG, a volume each and some hand-me-down hardware.

It's very nice to play though... Weighs about 4.5 pounds (only 32mm thick because that's what Bunnings had).

    IT'S UGLY!

My ugly guitar is also, ahh, my main guitar--Electra Phoenix, early '80s, $100 pawnshop find years ago. It had two humbuckers and active tone circuitry. Played well, stayed in tune, sounded harsh. I eventually gutted the active stuff and gave it a makeover with parts harvested from one of those Hound Dog Taylor-looking early Japanese electrics, which had a broken neck pocket. Two of the chrome single-coils, plus the knobs and strap buttons. The pickup rings are made from the weird guitar's aluminum pickguard.

Further adding to the weirdness and ugliness is the Peavey Audition 20--similar vintage--slaved into the two Valco 1 x 10 combos.

I have lots that people might think ugly because they're unusual.

This'un, however is ugly because it's beat all to hell.

    Unless, you're into that.

Here's my hundred-dollar Frankentele with a Seymour Duncan mini-HB in the neck slot. The person I bought it from, a friend who need some dosh to finish a recording session, turned it from a top-loader to a string-through. With a hand drill. No ferrules. Instead he carved (crudely) an indent into the back and made a back plate so the strings' ball ends wouldn't sink into the wood. Ugly as sin but works. The battering was from his son, to whom he foolishly lent the guitar, who played in some strange poser/emo/metal band and who repeatedly Townshended the thing.

That's a great looking tele! You need a headstock decal that reads: "Posercaster"

IMO, I wouldn't call about 95% of the guitar pics as "ugly". But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Seriously! To me, that's the hootest instrument in the thread so far. An incredibly gorgeous Jazz bass.

Maybe they think it's ugly because of the huge chrome pieces on it? Or the blue body with tortoise guard combination. But, come on! It's a JAZZ BASS! And it's got some nice white neck binding. Sweet.
